Accentric's technical needs were low UI footprint of high tech features such as:

XML generated slideshow

• thumbs built from XML source
• slideshow built and run from XML source
• slideshow initiation without user input
• User click would pause slideshow for a few seconds then resume
• continual loop of slideshow item

Web form with validation

• Flag fields for empty content
• Validate email domain
• Validate various 10 character formats
• utilize existing preauthored PHP web services
• consume web service XML response for pass/fail status

I was asked to author Flash powered piece of the Texas State U. home page that showcases content above and beyond typical XHTML constraints. My role on this project was to work very closely with their web designer to insure consistent branding wasn't tarnished due to programming constraints.

• Consumes custom Magnolia XML data feed
• Scales to handle any variable of content items
• Actionscript generation of: title, description, image and LEARN MORE URL

Dynamically driven content wrapped in a smooth Flash UI:

• XML driven content
• dymamic portfolio section descriptions
• Each portfolio section completely preloads a group of images
• Portfolio begins to play a slidehow if unclicked for a period of time
• Portfolio navigation updates in tandem with slideshow progress

The flash photo galleries I found were either too expensive, too robust, poorly authored or didn’t offer any auto updating features. Thus, I authored my own:

• Flash GUI is 100% dynamic and XML data driven
• GUI sorts galleries
• GUI counts images in each gallery and displays them
• GUI has a preloader for each thumbnail and full sized image
• PHP resizes the full size pictures on the fly
• PHP automatically generates thumbnails on the fly

The idea was simple, can we get flickr photo galleries to show up in MySpace? The end result was something that could be embedded in any blog or social site that accepts XHTML tags:
